Partnering with Parents
Zion's Youth Ministry hopes to inform, involve, and minister to parents as well as students. We want to partner with you in encouraging and challenging your student in their life of faith. Below is our youth ministry mission statement and some basic information.
Helping 6-12th grade students CONNECT to one another, LEARN from God’s Word, GROW as a disciple of Jesus, and make an IMPACT on the world in His name.
For most of our events middle school and high school students meet separately. But several times a year we bring ALL our students together and invite their FAMILIES to be a part of IMPACT service events! We are passionate about these opportunities because some of the latest research indicates that young people who have served alongside their families are more likely to develop a lifelong faith.
Support for Parents
We know that the impact you have on your student’s spiritual life is far greater than any other spiritual influence. We want to support you in your calling to be a faith mentor in your student's life and partner with you in encouraging your student's relationship with Jesus. If you have questions about youth ministry or would like to visit, please contact Carolyn Ristow, our Youth Minister. She would be happy to talk with you about your student and their faith journey.
You can also sign up to receive a monthly email newsletter with encouragement and resources like videos, downloads, and articles for parenting tweens and teens. (You'll have the option to receive other kinds of emails from Zion as well, including our weekly youth ministry updates.) We hope you will also find this list of recommended resources helpful in your role as parent and spiritual mentor of a tween or teen.
Youth Ministry Prayer Partners
While you are the primary influence when it comes to your teen's faith, we know that teenagers benefit from having relationships with multiple adults of faith. We hope to encourage your teen's faith by matching them up with an adult prayer partner from Zion. These adults will regularly include your teen in their personal prayer time, and will be asked to send an encouraging note to your teen a few times a year to remind them they are being prayed for. If you'd like to sign your student up for a prayer partner, please complete the form below.
