Christmas is a very special time at Zion.  First, our students experience the season of Advent (from the Latin word for "coming"), in which we anticipate the coming of Christ at Christmas, through our weekly Wednesday chapel services in December.

The students also participate in two distinct Christmas presentations, both taking place on Sunday evenings in December.  The 1st through 8th Grade Christmas Service includes the singing of many traditional hymns and carols and involves students pantomiming the parts of Mary, Joseph, Shepherds, and Angels.  The Service of Lessons and Carols has been a tradition of Zion for over 50 years and involves grades 3 through 8 as well as the adult choirs and instrumentalists.  The students often play recorders and handbells in addition to singing more difficult choral music to supplement the Advent and Christmas Scripture readings.  Child Care is provided for children age 4 and under, and a punch and cookie reception follows the Service of Lessons and Carols.
