Brief Biography: Carolyn was born in northern California but grew up mostly near Denver, Colorado. While growing up in Colorado she developed a love for the mountains and camping. She attended Concordia University in Irvine, California, majoring in both Christian Education Leadership and Psychology. While at Concordia Carolyn served as coordinator for the Youth Ministry Teams, a student organization on campus that led youth ministry events for local churches. During college she also traveled twice to Guatemala City on short term mission trips. Carolyn received her Bachelor of Arts from Concordia in 2008 and, after serving a one year internship here at Zion, Carolyn received her Director of Christian Education certificate from Concordia in 2009. Following her internship Carolyn was called to Zion as the Minister of Youth and Parish Education. She works with all ages at Zion including children, students, and adults. She also volunteers with Dallas Lutheran School's Beyond My Front Door service program and has helped plan several DFW area youth retreats and professional conferences. Carolyn is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Dallas Baptist University.
Carolyn is married to Isaac Ristow, the Choir Director at Green B. Trimble Technical High School in Fort Worth. Isaac and Carolyn have a black lab named Howard and enjoy all kinds of music, being outdoors, camping, and cooking together.
