BELIEF + PRACTICE

Grace Alone

God’s free and undeserved gift through Jesus Christ, not earned by works or human merit. This grace is received through faith, as the Holy Spirit creates trust in God’s promises and assures believers of forgiveness and eternal life.

Faith Alone

We are justified before God by faith alone (sola fide). We trust in Christ’s saving work rather than our own efforts or righteousness. Faith clings to God’s promises in Jesus, receiving forgiveness, life, and salvation as a gift.

Scripture Alone

Scripture is the sole source and final authority for faith and life, above human traditions or teachings. God’s Word is clear, sufficient, and inspired, providing everything necessary for salvation and guiding the Church in truth.

145 YEARS OF MINISTRY

Since 1879 Zion Lutheran Church has been a foundational cornerstone of the city of Dallas. Originating in downtown, the Zion congregation moved to Swiss Avenue in 1899 before settling in at the corner of Skillman and Lovers in 1957.

In 1982 our present sanctuary and church offices were completed and dedicated. To support expanded childhood ministries, Zion added new modular classrooms, marking another step in the church’s steady growth and increasingly diverse ministries. Over a period of more than 133 years, Zion’s members have used God’s gracious gifts to fund and build four parish churches and three school facilities in Dallas.
